Ground-Mounted Solar
UTILITY-SCALEPOWER INFRASTRUCTURE.
Multi-megawatt ground-mounted solar plants, PM KUSUM solutions, and Virtual Net Metering for distributed assets. From 500 kW to multi-MW installations on open land, barren plots, and agricultural parcels.
Utility Scale
Beyond the rooftop.
When your energy requirements exceed rooftop capacity — or when you have open land available — ground-mounted solar plants become the optimal choice. These utility-scale installations range from 500 kW to multiple megawatts, providing captive power at the lowest possible cost per unit.
Rajasthan's vast arid landscape and exceptional solar irradiance (5.5–6.5 peak sun hours) make it the most productive state in India for ground-mounted solar. By utilizing the latest N-Type TOPCon Bifacial modules on single-axis trackers, modern plants capture up to 20% more energy from albedo (ground reflection) compared to standard fixed-tilt monocrystalline arrays.
A 1 MW plant on approximately 4 acres generates 15–17 Lakh units annually — enough to power a large factory or offset the energy consumption of a distributed corporate campus through Virtual Net Metering (VNM).
System Sizing
Land requirements and energy yield.
Ground-mounted systems require optimal spacing to prevent inter-row shading and allow for cleaning machinery.
| Plant Capacity | Land Required (Approx.) | No. of Modules (580W+) | Annual Generation | Target Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500 kW | 2.0 – 2.5 Acres | ~860 | 7.5 – 8.5 Lakh units | Large Hospitals, Mid-size Factories |
| 1 MW (1000 kW) | 4.0 – 4.5 Acres | ~1,720 | 15 – 17 Lakh units | Heavy Manufacturing, PM KUSUM A |
| 2 MW | 8.0 – 9.0 Acres | ~3,440 | 30 – 34 Lakh units | Textile Mills, Cement Plants |
| 5 MW+ | 20+ Acres | 8,600+ | 75+ Lakh units | Independent Power Producers (IPP) |
Assumes fixed-tilt mounting structures. Single-axis tracking systems will increase land requirement by 15-20% but yield higher energy generation.
Virtual Net Metering
One plant. Multiple meters.
Generate solar at one location, consume credits at many. Perfect for distributed operations, retail chains, and scattered campuses.
Install Ground Plant
Build a centralized solar plant on affordable land outside the city. No need for space at the consumption site.
Register Meters
Link multiple consumer meters (shops, offices, branches) to the central generating plant within the same DISCOM zone.
Generate Credits
The solar plant feeds power directly into the grid, generating high-volume energy credits every billing cycle.
Distribute & Save
DISCOM allocates generation credits proportionally across all registered meters. Each location pays only for net usage.
Government Initiatives
PM KUSUM Yojana Explained.
Government-backed programs providing subsidies for agricultural solar installations and barren land monetization.
Component A: Decentralized Solar Plants (500 kW – 2 MW)
Small solar power plants set up by individual farmers, cooperatives, or panchayats on barren/agricultural land. Power is sold directly to DISCOMs at a fixed pre-determined tariff for 25 years. This allows farmers to earn passive income of ₹60,000–₹1,00,000 per acre annually.
Component B: Standalone Solar Agricultural Pumps
Installation of off-grid solar water pumps of 2–7.5 HP capacity for individual farmers. Backed by up to 60% government subsidy (30% Central + 30% State). Completely eliminates diesel costs and frees farmers from grid dependency for irrigation.
Component C: Solarization of Grid-Connected Pumps
Existing grid-connected agricultural pumps are solarized. Farmers use the generated solar power to meet irrigation needs and sell the surplus power to DISCOMs, creating an additional income stream of ₹30,000–₹50,000/year while reducing the state's agricultural subsidy burden.
Own 2+ acres of barren land in Rajasthan?
Turn unproductive land into a 25-year revenue generating asset under PM KUSUM Component A or third-party open access PPA models. SOLGURU handles everything from feasibility and DISCOM PPA signing to EPC execution and lifecycle O&M.
